Events for PWDs lined up in Iloilo City

Iloilo City — The presidents of organizations of Persons with Disabilities and Provincial, Municipal and City Social Welfare and Development Officers or PWD Focal Persons from more than a hundred local government units in Western Visayas will gather in this city for a conference and online registration starting Monday, July 18.

Judith Tanate-Barredo, PWD Focal Person of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 6, said the ongoing online registry for PWDs which is being run by the Department of Health will lead off the series of activities lined up by the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs in Western Visayas for the 38th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week which started July 17.

PWD presidents will also elect their regional federation officers during the conference.

Also on Monday, the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) Iloilo City will hold a mass at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Senor Sto. Nino Chapel, SM Delgado, to usher the celebration in the city.

Opening ceremonies will follow at SM City Iloilo Activity Center highlighted by the Induction of the new elected officers of the Federation of Persons with Disabilities-Iloilo City and the Search for Mr. and Ms. PWD 2016.

Two forums on disability will be conducted on July 19 hosted by the Iloilo Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and the Commission on Population at Casa Real de Iloilo and the Iloilo City PDAO at the Diamond Jubilee Hall.

The Department of Health 6 will hold a Health Fair for PWDs on July 20. This will include a free blood typing for 100 PWDs from the city.

On July 21, the works of talented PWDs will be featured in an Art Showcase at Robinsons Place Iloilo. A Poster Making Contest will also be held in the same venue.

An E-VAT Forum participated in by PWDs and invited business establishments including drugstores will be held at the Diamond Jubilee Hall on July 22. (PIA-6 Iloilo)
